Cassandra hails from a farming background in New Zealand. She had worked in the Military, Agriculture and the Banking Industry, before choosing to become a full-time parent. Her husband and her have 3 children, and the family spent 9 years living in Singapore, returning to New Zealand in 2020.
Cassandra graduated from her homeschool journey in May 2018, just over 15 years from receiving her Certificate of Exemption, from the New Zealand Ministry of Education, to homeschool her eldest son. Their son, now 23, completed an Internship in an IT company in Singapore, before returning to New Zealand in 2019, to study. He is now in his 3rd year of a Bachelor of Computer Science at the University of Waikato, and is deciding whether to pursue an honours or Masters degree next year.
Their twin daughters are now 20. One daughter is in her first year at Victoria University doing Film and Theatre with Communications. She spent 15 months with The Institute for Cultural Communicators, based in Nashville, Tennessee, as an Intern, and then served as ICC’s Media Producer running a live production studio for ICC’s international events in 2020 when COVID-19 closed borders and prevented in-person gatherings.
Their other daughter recently completed her 1 year course in Hair Design, at Wintec, after her plans to do an internship in 2020 in the USA were upended by COVID-19. She has been offered an Apprenticeship at Hillcrest Hair Design, which she will begin in August 2021.
Cassandra now works full time for a Private Training Enterprise in Hamilton, New Zealand, whose mission is: changing lives through learning.
Having been homeschooled herself for several years, Cassandra is passionate about encouraging families to enjoy the freedom they have to pursue delight directed learning amidst the lessons real life offers a family on the homeschool journey.
