Kay Zhao

Kay Zhao is the mother of three lovely girls, aged from 9 to 13 this year. She has been home-schooling all her children for the past 8 or 9 years.

Prior to becoming a home-schooling mother, she was trained as a nurse, then decided to serve as a teacher, administrator and translator at an international school for a few years before doing a Masters in Biblical Studies. She is thankful for the meandering path her life has taken and the diverse experiences she has had as a result. The best part of it all is that she has been able to learn and grow in ways she never imagined, and now in home-schooling, she is able to do that together with her children.

Her family has been taking the classical education approach for homeschooling. They started the journey in a Classical Conversations (CC) community with six like-minded families six years ago. Kay appreciates the encouraging and inspiring learning environment, coupled with the rigorous training of the mind, for the children and the parents alike. Kay was the tutor for Foundations program in CC for four cycles (four school years), the director of Foundations/Essentials programs for one year and now she is tutoring a Challenge A community (Sec 1 students), which her eldest is part of.

If you are considering homeschooling for the first time, if you are not sure what it’s like to homeschool with multiple children, if you are looking into classical education for your family, or if you just need some encouragement or direction to start the homeschooling journey your family has decided to set off on, Kay would be happy to have a chat with you and be of any help.
