Tsui Ling Hoy

Tsui Ling is mum to six children aged 20, 18, 16, 14, 11 and 8. She has 17 years of homeschooling experience. Homeschooling is a marathon and not a 100m dash. The road might get bumpy along the way. Starting on the right footing is important.

When she started homeschooling her eldest when he was three, there were not many homeschooling families. Through these years, she has learned to stay focused on the path she has chosen for her family together with her husband. Since none of her children has attended mainstream school so far, she has learned to customise an education path that is unique to each child. She believes in allowing the children to explore different areas of their interests when they are young and help point them to their strengths.

Her eldest child will start his tertiary education in a local university in August this year. Her second child had graduated from high school in May 2020 and is now in the midst of taking some standardised testing. As a Homeschool Consultant, she has helped families exploring homeschooling answer their queries and tailor her advice to their unique cases.

With four teens and a young adult, she is learning to enjoy her time with them and looks forward to late night chats, over chocolates, chips and ice-cream with them.

Tsui Ling enjoys reading up on natural remedies and usage of spices and herbs for cooking and minor ailments when she has some spare time. Her other joys are in making fermented foods like kimchi and kefir for the family.
