Speaker #1 : PAUL SEAH on law

In 2017, Paul garnered the Asialaw Asia-Pacific Dispute Resolution Awards’ Disputes Star of the Year award. He was also recognised by the Asian Legal Business as one of “40 Under 40 – Asia’s Brightest Young Legal Minds” in 2015. In addition, Paul is ranked as a Recommended Lawyer for Dispute Resolution, and Restructuring and Insolvency by Legal 500 Asia Pacific, 2017-2018. He is also ranked as a Leading Lawyer for Dispute Resolution and Litigation, and Restructuring and Insolvency by Asialaw Profiles, 2017-2018.
Speaker #2 : TAN CHENG BOCK on politics

Tan Cheng Bock is a Singaporean politician and medical practitioner. He was formerly a member of Singapore’s governing People’s Action Party (PAP) and a Member of Parliament from 1980 to 2006. He was the first non-Cabinet minister elected into the PAP Central Executive Committee (1987–96). He stood for the 2011 presidential election and won the second highest number of votes at 34.85% among all four candidates, losing marginally to the winner Tony Tan.

Jean has been an educator since 2010, and is also a singer-songwriter. She has launched three records including the latest ‘Hideaway’ EP in 2017. Jean’s music is a means of conveying stories in cultural and community spaces, and she has performed at events such as charity events, launch shows, and music festivals.

Patrick Ng is a key leader in Urban Sketchers Singapore, the local chapter of a large international community of artists passionate about on-location (en plain-air) sketching. In 2015, he organized an International Urban Sketching Symposium held in Singapore, which was attended by over 400 artists from all over the world.

Wesley Loh won an award for the ICON de Martell Cordon Bleu in 2012. More recently, he worked with Epigram Books to publish 100 Singaporeans, a photography book showcasing 100 Singaporean faces, in his bid to find the “Singaporean face”.

Together with his ceramic artist wife Lee Huiwen, they run Studio Asobi, a ceramic practice that celebrates the beauty of creation and the joy of wandering and play. The talk would be at their studio-cum-home.

Speaker #9 : BERNICE LEE on publishing

Bernice Lee has been involved in various aspects of publishing since 1981, when she joined Oxford University Press, Singapore. The years 1991–2005 were spent managing the publishing programme for Armour Publishing Pte Ltd, a local publishing company which she co-founded with Christina Lim. Since 2006, together with her husband Soo-Inn Tan, she has been at the helm of Graceworks Private Limited, a publishing and training consultancy based in Singapore. Under the auspices of MAI-Asia, Bernice has conducted writing and editorial training in Indonesia, Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam. She is currently the Chair of MAI-Asia.
Registration to attend the 2018-2019 guest speakers’ talks is currently open only to the Homeschool Singapore community.
