We are thrilled to announce an inspired initiative to renew the way we connect, converse, and contribute together. Introducing: Living Chapters – a Human Library®-inspired community programme.
Imagine a library where the books are people – real, vibrant members of our community ready to share their stories, insights, and expertise. That’s precisely what Living Chapters is all about! Inspired by the global Human Library® movement, this program will bring us closer together, providing a unique platform for information exchange, dialogue, and building connections.
Why Living Chapters?
In a homeschooling landscape often characterized by a diversity of approaches, cyclical turnovers, and decentralization, the community yearns for deep connections, expert guidance, and a sustainable, supportive ecosystem that allows families to thrive outside institutional frameworks. Without these, homeschooling can become isolating, overwhelming, and unsustainable, especially over the long term.
Living Chapters addresses three critical needs:
- Connections: Creating safe, reflective spaces for mutual learning and support.
- Expertise Access: Making practical wisdom and lived experience readily available.
- Sustainability: Building a network that nurtures community resilience and continuity.
The Human Library® is a global movement that uses personal stories as living texts to challenge prejudice and promote understanding. Translating this model into a homeschooling context, Living Chapters allows community members to “check out” real people—parents, alumni, practitioners—as living books who openly share their experiences, insights, and resources.
What to Expect
Stage 1: Library Chapters
Get ready for cozy, informal gatherings in homes, cafes, and parks! Our “Library Hosts” will anchor small group discussions, sharing their stories and leading discussions on exciting topics such as Homeschooling Through Crisis, Unschooling in Singapore, S.T.E.M. at Home, and Post-PSLE Education. Launching with weekly sessions in July 2025, we will transition to monthly events, featuring home visits and meet-and-greets.
Stage 2: Deep Chapters
