We are thrilled to share the very first issue of HomeschoolSingapore.sg Newsletter, launched in conjunction with SG60.
Milestones & Moments
This special issue carries the theme: “Milestones & Moments.”
As Singapore marks 60 years of nation-building, we’re proud to stand in that same spirit of boldness, resilience, openness, and multicultural unity—core values that many homeschoolers embody in their quiet but determined ways.
This newsletter spotlights homeschoolers who are charting extraordinary milestones in academics, sports, the performance arts, and community service. Some are medalling in competitions; others are building programmes for the public good. So remarkable are some of their achievements that new recognition and award categories have been created for them!
What they share is not just accomplishment, but courage—the courage to try, to train, to pursue something deeply, despite how unconventional or invisible their journeys may seem.
As homeschoolers, we also embrace the everyday moments in learning and “doing life.” In this issue, you’ll hear from children who painted their love for Singapore in watercolours and verses, and from parents who reimagined education not just for their families, but for the wider community.
Read: Singapore’s homeschoolers are invested. We are dreaming, doing, and contributing in powerful ways.

How It Began
This newsletter started as a spark during a casual brainstorming session with fellow homeschool parents. Inspired by the stories around us, Grace Tan (HomeschoolSingapore.sg Media Director) and I knew we had to capture these voices in print.
We are deeply grateful to the team of young homeschool mothers who poured in the hours, interviewed families, wrangled drafts (sometimes while holding babies!), and gave their hearts to this project. Keziah Khoo, our youth correspondent, joined the project while based in Indonesia.

Be Part of the Next Chapter
We warmly invite you to be part of building this platform as a home for shared memories, mutual assistance, open exchange, and collective dreams.
If you’ve ever wondered how you might connect, converse, and contribute to our growing homeschooling community—this is your moment.
Share your idea with us or nominate homeschoolers to be featured through our Pitch an Article! Form.
A Call Beyond the Homeschooling Circle
We are also sharing this newsletter with policymakers, sports and arts associations, institutes of higher learning, and community organisations. Why? Because the stories in these pages show that homeschoolers are not on the sidelines—they are active citizens, athletes, artists, scholars, and volunteers contributing to Singapore.

- Policy Makers & Government Agencies – Consider frameworks that recognise and support diverse learning journeys through funding, infrastructure access, and programme inclusion.
- Sports Associations – Open more pathways for homeschool athletes to access training, competitions, mentorship, and funding without school affiliation.
- Arts & Cultural Institutions – Explore collaborations that showcase homeschoolers’ talents on stage, in galleries, residencies, and workshops.
- Institutes of Higher Learning – Consider admissions and mentorship pathways that value self-directed research, creative problem-solving, and entrepreneurial ventures.
- Community Organisations & NGOs – Partner with homeschoolers in outreach programmes, enabling them to serve and learn alongside the broader community.

A Heartfelt Thanks to a Generous Sponsor
In a previous version of this article, we reached out for support to transform our digital PDF edition into physical copies, allowing us to share our work with young readers in a tangible way.

We are overjoyed to announce that a generous community member has stepped forward to make this dream a reality, sponsoring the printing of 100 copies of our publication. Though she wishes to remain anonymous, her thoughtful gesture serves as a beautiful reminder of the power of community and the incredible things we can accomplish when we uplift one another. We are truly grateful for her kindness and the warmth it brings to our journey together.
